AI tutor (Shishya)

The tutor behind Shishya, Surge's live learning platform: step-by-step explanations, the common mistake, and practice questions.

The problem

  • Aspirants for government exams and board exams cannot get a teacher to explain every doubt.
  • Answer keys give the option, not the reasoning.
  • Coaching content is not available in the student's language or at their level.

What it does

  • Explains the solution step by step at the student's level.
  • Points out the common mistake that leads to the wrong option.
  • Generates practice questions on the same concept.
  • Runs in production on Shishya today; the same stack can be deployed for a school, coaching institute or edtech.

Ask an exam-style question and get a worked explanation, the common trap and two practice questions.

Please do not paste real personal, patient, customer or confidential data. Use the samples or your own synthetic text.

Output

Step-by-step solution, the common trap and two practice questions with answers.

The demo first calls the Surge in-house AI server and falls back to a hosted open-source model if it is busy. The badge on the output shows which one answered. Limited to a few runs per visitor per day.

How it integrates

In your deployment the accelerator runs inside your environment, behind your single sign-on, and is connected to the systems below. You choose the hosting and the model.

Systems and APIs

  • LMS / learning app
  • Question bank import (CSV, QTI)
  • Student progress store

Data we need for a pilot

  • Syllabus and question bank
  • Answer keys with explanations where available

Where it runs

  • Cloud (as Shishya runs today)
  • On-prem for institutions that need it

Open-source models we start with

  • Open-source instruct model for explanations, with a foundation-model fallback where the institution approves it
  • IndicTrans2 for Indian-language explanations

Run the education accelerator on your data

In a working session we map it to your process, systems and rules, and agree what a pilot must prove before it goes live.
